Privacy notice
Version 1 · Last updated [publish date]
This notice covers the two forms on this website: early access and “Share your story.” It doesn’t cover the Saga app, which is still in development. What you add to Saga will live on your iPhone or iPad and in your iCloud, and only you will decide who sees it. This website doesn’t hold it.
Who’s responsible
Saga (sagaof.com; “we”) decides how this data is used and answers for it. Until Saga is incorporated, the person responsible is its founder, Alexander Toporov. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect, and why
Early access. Your email address, the date you signed up, where on the site you signed up (a header button, the closing section at the foot of the page, or the updates box in “Share your story”), and the choices you made in the form. If you unsubscribe, we keep the date you did until your email is deleted or you sign up again (see “How long we keep it”). Each email we send carries a random code that makes its unsubscribe link work. We use your email only for what you chose: to tell you when Saga is ready, to send occasional updates, or to invite you to an interview or an early version.
Share your story. Your answers to the four questions, including anything you write in the free-text field; the date you sent them; which version of the form’s consent text you saw; whether you ticked the updates box (recorded as no if you leave no email); only if you leave it, your email; and, worked out from your answer to question 4 and your email, whether we may contact you about research. We read the answers to understand what people need and to shape Saga. If you leave your email, we may contact you about the research options you chose, such as an interview or an early version. If you tick the updates box, your email also joins the early-access list for updates only. If it wasn’t on that list already, it’s recorded as signed up from “Share your story”; if it was, its entry adds updates to your earlier choices.
We also number each entry in both forms, to keep track of it. The number says nothing about you.
Please don’t include sensitive details about yourself or others, such as health, religion, or the private lives of relatives.
We use no analytics, no ad trackers, and no third-party cookies.
Legal basis [legal review]
- Telling you when Saga is ready: your request. Pressing “Get early access” asks for the launch notice, and we send it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Updates and research contact: your consent, given only if you tick them. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Reading and keeping your story answers: our legitimate interest in understanding what people need and shaping Saga. You can object at any time: ask us and we’ll delete your answers.
Who handles it for us
- Cloudflare hosts the website and receives the forms. Like any web host, it sees your IP address to deliver the page and protect the site; we don’t keep it.
- Supabase stores what both forms collect, in Ireland, in the EU.
- An email service, [provider], sends updates, in [region].
They process the data only on our instructions. We never sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to profile you.
How long we keep it
- Early-access email, if you chose only “Tell me when Saga is ready”: deleted within [30 days] of the email that tells you Saga is ready.
- Early-access email, if you also chose updates or research contact: deleted 12 months after Saga launches.
- If you unsubscribe before then, we stop writing to you straight away and delete your email within [30 days] of the date you unsubscribed. If you sign up again before it’s deleted, we reuse that entry with your new choices, and it keeps the date and place you first signed up.
- The signup date, where you signed up, your choices, the date you unsubscribed, the unsubscribe code and the entry’s number are deleted with the email.
- Story answers: 24 months from when you send them, then deleted, with everything else stored with them.
- Email left with your story: deleted when research contact ends (when you ask, when the research you chose is over, or at 24 months at the latest). If you ticked the updates box, your email moves to the updates list and follows the early-access rule.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw consent at any time and unsubscribe from any email we send, with the unsubscribe link in each one. We reply within [one month legal review].
To do any of this, email [email protected]. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority, such as [supervisory authority].
Changes
If this notice changes, we’ll update the version and date above. If a change affects how we use your email, we’ll tell you first.
